Over 60 schools, public and private, are represented in the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, making it truly a unique institution in this city. The majority of our students are not "conservatory bound," but bright highly-motivated young artists who enjoy music as part of their other interests in science, history, literature, and other arts. They span the socio-economic, cultural, and religious gamut of our city. Funding cuts in many other school music programs make our orchestra an increasingly important musical outlet for them.

In just a short number of years, the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra has achieved prominence to be named a Youth Orchestra Partner of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, including a performance in Walt Disney Concert Hall November 11, 2007.
